Organized by seven young people from Plan-les-Ouates between 15 to 21 years old, the LocaSound Festival come back for his 2e edition at the groove. Chaired by two animators from the leisure and meeting center locados in Plan-les-Ouates, Amaniel Tesfamariam and Malamine Sall, this festival promotes emerging artists from Grand Geneva, by creating a space accessible to young people. This festival is also intended to highlight the organization of cultural events by and for youth.
After a first “successful” edition according to the young organizers, the collective hopes to welcome even more audiences this year, and returns with a “local and urban” programming, honors several styles, such as rap, R’n’B or even Afro rhythms. All in a spirit of parity.
A training project for young organizers
“In the group, we are six organizers and an organizer,” explains Maria, one of the young people in the collective. Each and everyone has their own role. ” Indeed, between artistic programming, communication, promotion, reception and animation, as well as financial and administrative management, the tasks are clearly distributed. Because beyond the objective of creating a festive event, the initiative also aims to initiate young people to the organization of cultural events.
Supported by the animation team of the Locados meeting center and its committee, the young people are supported throughout the project. “Since the past fall, we have organized monthly training by inviting professionals from different branches,” explains Amaniel Tesfamariam, one of the two animators who supervise the project. With these courses, we want to familiarize young people with the various poles necessary for the realization of such a project. Then, these budding organizers are allocated one of the poles and work in small groups of two maximum to implement it alone. Then we meet every week to discuss it together ”.
The two animators are therefore responsible for collecting subsidies before passing the witness to the youngest. “They are the ones who contact the artists for example, we brief them a little before, but we do not intervene in the discussions,” adds Amaniel Tesfamariam.
This year, the Locasound Festival will seize the groove on September 13, from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., with a program between Rap and R’n’B 100% local: Daej Phantom, DMCS, Erin Kimberly, LDB or Mibsy.
