A large forest fire in the south of Cyprus left two people dead. Hundreds of people had to leave their homes, the Reuters news agency reported on Thursday. The firefighters are fighting to turn off the fire, which broke out in a mountainous area.

The two victims were found in a burned vehicle overnight Wednesday to Thursday. The authorities are still trying to evacuate all the inhabitants trapped in the village of Lofou, more than 20 kilometers north of Limassol.
