Czech RepublicA giant baby causes a sensation throughout the country
A young mother gave birth to a “little giant”: Matej weighed 5.52 kg at birth, making him the heaviest newborn in the country for over 30 years.
In Jihlava, a city of Czech Republic, a young 25 -year -old mother, Nikol Dockalkova, gave birth to a boy with impressive measurements on Tuesday: 5.52 kilos for 60 centimeters. The delivery, programmed by Cesarean at the local hospital, took place without complications. This little boy named Matej thus becomes the biggest baby born in the country since 1994.
From the start of pregnancy, the future mother suspected that it was not an ordinary baby. “It was as if I had two children,” she told the TV NOVA channel. For comparison, his first daughter weighed approximately 3.8 kilos at birth.
An extraordinary birth, but without complications
The doctors themselves had estimated a weight of about a kilo less. Ultrasound had nevertheless revealed an unusual size, encouraging the medical team to recommend a planned cesarean. “It would have been impossible to give birth naturally,” said the mother, who secretly hoped for a premature childbirth. “I was hoping for it a month earlier,” she said.
The day of birth, everything went without problem. The father, Radim Dockalek, was present in the delivery room: “We were very surprised, we did not expect him to be so tall,” he said.
A proud mom and a healthy baby
In comparison, an average baby weighs approximately 3.5 kilos and measures 50 centimeters. Matej already has the measurements of an infant two to three months. Only a baby born in 1994 had exceeded his weight, with a record of 6.5 kilos.
A NOVA TV team went to the hospital to meet the family. The images show a radiant mother tenderly dressing her “little giant”. The medical staff confirmed that the mother and the child were doing well.
