Saône-et-Loire is the department that has been most affected by the weather of the weekend. Other departments were also affected by the thunderstorms of eastern France on Sunday July 20: the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, the Drôme or the Isère. In Savoy, two people were seriously injured, and three more slightly, by a tree that fell on their car on Monday July 21 in the morning.

A tree has just fallen, trapped five people in their vehicle. Everyone tries to reassure the occupants of the car. Then, many rescue means are dispatched to this small road in Savoy. For three long hours, the firefighters do everything to unravel the occupants of the car. Two are seriously injured, three more slightly. All were transported to Albertville hospital (Savoie).
Further south, in the middle of the night, around three in the morning, a tornado hits the town of Miramas (Bouches-du-Rhône). The awakening is brutal for the inhabitants. “”It opened the windows to me. It flooded me everywhere. But above all, the roof tiles flew away“, Testifies a video resident.
The roof of a car concession has also collapsed under the strength of the winds. The tornado lasted only 15 minutes, but the phenomenon was very violent. “”We had a lot of water, but really a thunderous of God’s fire, and a wind that far exceeded 120, easy. It is a column inside the city where we see all the damage that happened“, describes Frédéric Vigouroux, mayor of Miramas.
In the Jura, swirling winds and blowing in gusts had the strength to uproot this tree over 100 years old. He dropped on the corner of the house, fortunately empty of its inhabitants. In Grenoble (Isère), lightning touched this house. Almost all of the roof was destroyed by the flames.
