These relics would behave like black holes, but would only interact by gravity.
This model, anchored in a well -established physics, remains testable: it would be enough to identify its gravitational effects on the formation of large cosmic structures.

In his second study. published in May, Profumo moves the gaze to the borders of the young universe. It explores a cosmic horizon-analogous to the horizon of a black hole-capable of generating particles by quantum effects. during a post-inflation accelerated expansion phase.

By varying the duration. temperature of this expansion, we obtain a whole range of possible masses for dark matter – and a purely gravitational mechanism, freed from experimental hypotheses which are struggling today to deliver results.

These two tracks extend a strong heritage in Santa Cruz, where the interface between cosmology and particle physics has been cultivated for decades.
