When he announced his retirement in the spring, David Savard did not hide his interest in staying in the Giron of the Canadian. By dint of being pulled the worms of the nose, the ex-defenseman said he was discussing in this sense with the organization, about a month from the training camp.

The new 34-year-old retiree was passing through Quebec, where he was paid tribute to the Videotron Center as part of the traditional pro-Am, in the company of other NHL players, in a charitable evening.
Savard chassered skates among the players still active for the occasion, but there is no question that he returned to his decision.
The advantage of staying with the Canadian in another role, like other elders, such as Francis Bouillon, did it before him, however remains very present. Will we see it, therefore, in Brossard when the camp will set in motion?
“We are not returned there again, I do not want to talk about these things,” said Savard first, before opening a little more.
Under discussion
Whoever accumulated 932 NHL games, including the playoffs, did not indicate what role he would like to play, but we guess that he could well provide his knowledge and wisdom to the young defenders of the organization.
“We had discussions, but it’s still in talks, if I can say. We continue to talk to each other with Kent [Hughes] And with Gort [Jeff Gorton]just to see if there is a possibility.
“There is nothing pressing because I’m going to be in Montreal, whatever, when the season is starting. We will see if they need me. You also have to see if it can work with the family schedule. The family followed me over the years and now, the priorities will change, “he said.

Savard was held far from the ice rink and the training room in the last months. Not by simple desire for idleness, but rather because 1810 shot blocked and 1670 defeated during his career left traces.
“I trained less than before and I take the form a little. I still had injuries with which I had to compose. Quietly, it improves. I still hang out things and try to come back as close to 100% as possible. It will take time and I knew by retiring that I was going to live a end with that, “he said.
Despite the inevitable physical after -effects, Savard concedes that even if his status as retired he is the height, the atmosphere of the locker room in the fall will miss a bit, especially if he remains far from the team.
“The start of the season is fun all the time. To find the guys and everyone after a summer is what I will miss the most. You become a family and it will make me weird. We will see how life will do things and for the moment, I take the time to relax and decide what I want to do. ”
Good additions
Now that he observes the team for which he has evolved in his last four seasons, Savard is delighted to see how much the staff had moved to improve the team this summer.
“It’s exciting. They went to get great players. With the steps of giant that we made last year, it will be the fun to follow the team. They are able to make more damage to series, ”said the one who has patinated several times in Quebec, in the summer season, with one of these newcomers, striker Zachary Bolduc.
“It’s a good acquisition, a young player who has a lot of talent. I spoke with Mathieu Joseph, who played with him [avec les Blues] And he has only good words. He will enter the group of young people we have well. ”
