Death of Eric Freymond, Banker and Geneva patron

Éric Freymond died Wednesday at the age of 67, near his Saanen chalet, announced the Tribune de Genève. He was recently at the heart of a very publicized judicial conflict with heir Hermès, Nicolas Puech.

Stupor. Geneva banker, patron and collector, Éric Freymond died suddenly on Wednesday morning. “We were all deeply shocked by this terrible news,” reacts Yannis Sakkas, one of the lawyers for Eric Freymond, quoted by our colleagues. “M. Eric Freymond was a man of great culture, refined, passionate about the arts. He supported innovative and visionary projects, like Solar Impulse, and has always invested with elegance in the causes that were close to his heart. He was also engaged in several associations and foundations. ”

Cited by the Genève tribune, Bernese police evoke a “train accident near the Saanen campsite” without giving more details.

Assigned man

Former fortune manager of Nicolas Puech, heir to the Hermès house, he was accused at the end of 2023 by the latter of having “disappeared” nearly 6 million Hermès shares, representing an estimated value at more than 12 billion francs. Éric Freymond has always denied any irregularity.

The dispute, extraordinary by the amounts at stake, gives rise to an intense legal battle. In July 2024, the Geneva Civil Court discovered Nicolas Puech, for lack of sufficient evidence, and the innocent public prosecutor Éric Freymond.

According to several relatives, the media pressure and the scope of the conflict deeply affected the banker, who had difficulty lived this case.
