Did you know? Thanks to Air France, the heritage of the Yvelines continues to travel around the world

Did you know that two active Air France planes bear the names of two municipalities in Yvelines? Among the approximately 230 devices currently operated by the company and its subsidiary Air France Cargo are located Two Boeing 777 (B777) called Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Rambouillet. The inaugural flight of the first date of January 2001, the second joined the fleet in January 2005.

The second castle of Versailles stole almost fifteen years

A second B707 Château de Versailles will fly for the French company from 1962. Sold in Royal Air Maroc in 1975, it will be bought by Air France only a year later.

The plane was removed from the fleet in 1977, then sold to the American Charlotte Aircraft, a company specializing in the dismantling and the resale of spare parts.

Dampierre castle has gone to posterity

There was also the Château de Rambouilletactive from March 20, 1960. It will later be sold to an Israeli company. The last B707 to bear the name of a Yvelin castle is the Château de Dampierre. A plane passed to posterity.

Delivered in 1966, he was the first Boeing to ensure a Paris-La Réunion link. It was in 1967. Withdrawn in 1983, it is now stored at Le Bourget airport.

Since 2019, Air France has returned to tradition. Yvelines are still waiting for a Airbus pay tribute to the territory.
