Trombone, treasure chest, ballerina or orca … The fall of emojis collection was unveiled by Unicode on Wednesday on the occasion of “International Emojis Day”.
Each year, the family of emojis is growing. Used in everyday life to transmit our emotions and feelings by messages, emojis are actually scrutinized and selected before appearing on our keyboards. Nine new designs will be added in 2026 to iOS, Android or Windows. The Unicode association announced this new collection on Wednesday July 16, July 16.
The collection of this fall/winter of emojis is made up of the trombone, a trunk filled with pieces, an apple core, a comic book, a ballerina, an emoji with exorbated eyes, an orca, a landslide or even a yeti. The designs will thus be adapted and recreated differently by Apple, Samsung or Google. They can also be found on platforms like X or Discord.

“Longtime symbolic meanings”
The criteria for selecting emojis, implemented by Unicode, brings together the adaptability of the image to the small size of the emoji, the introduction of a new idea which cannot be expressed by the already existing emojis, as well as the relevance and the usefulness of this emoji for a large number of users.
That said, the selection of emojis can sometimes be anchored in political dynamics. As Unicode explains, “Che new emojis have long -standing symbolic meanings are visually distinctive and contain a multitude of expressions. ” It remains for everyone to interpret the choices made for this fall collection. Expected in the coming months, the latter will first have to be definitively adopted in September this year before appearing on the new versions of iOS or Android by early 2026.
