The Gamercard is certainly not the first portable console to eat by a Raspberry Pi solution, but let’s face it: most of the other consoles of this type act as gadgets, while this project intends to impose itself as a real alternative to emulation lovers. Especially since the project is not taken lightly: the Gamercard has been industrialized and benefits from a much more advanced design than most other Raspberry Pi consoles (it probably helps to be Grant Sinclair, the nephew of Clive – you know, the creator of the ZX Spectrum). But it comes with a consideration: it takes 125 pounds, or € 145 to take advantage of it. Not given.
To justify this price, the Gamercard announces to take on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W solution, with 512 MB of RAM and a storage of 128 GB. The slab is 4 inch. The most surprising, in the design of this console is rather the controls, namely 8 buttons that are hidden under a silicone shell. Thus, 4 buttons take the role of the directional cross, while the other 4 will serve as alternatives to the classics ABXY. The players that the console will try to convince are those looking for a portable compact emulation console, boarding at any time in the pocket. Indeed, the device measures approximately 13 centimeters in height for almost 9 cm wide, and especially only 6.5 mm thick, which makes it one of the finest tools on the market. And inevitably, with such measures, the gamercard is also one of the lightest portable consoles there is: it weighs only 100 grams.
In parallel, the console has a USB-C port to integrate games and recharge the 1600 mAh battery. Note that there is no helmet port here: it will therefore be necessary to be satisfied with the small stereo speakers. Besides, the Gamercard is compatible with a whole bunch of emulators, such as Retopie, Recalbox, and should allow the user to develop his own games if he wishes: the device will be compatible MyCropyon, Basic, C or C ++. As long as the project interests you, the console is accessible to the purchase directly on the site of its creator, at this address.
