When it was launched, Google Photos offered to store free and unlimited the photos and videos of users. But, later, Google adopted a new strategy and, today, storage of photos and videos is no longer free when the user exceeds 15 GB of storage offered for each Google account. When this free storage is full, the user must buy space in the additional cloud, via a Google One subscription, or delete files to free up space.
But, to help users not exceed the storage limit on Google Photos, Google would prepare a new option on its application. By searching the Google code, our colleagues from Android Authority would have found clues that suggest that Google will offer an option which, when activated, Allows Google Photos to synchronize only the photos or videos that are part of the “favorites”. The idea would therefore be to use the favorites as a filter, so that the storage which allows to synchronize the photos and the videos in Google Photos is not quickly exhausted.
Don’t want to back up every photo in Google Photos? Google will soon let you back up only your favorited photos

An interesting option
Currently, Google Photos only offers two options, for the synchronization of photos and videos. The first is to synchronize all the photos and all the videos on the user’s smartphone (the 15 GB limit can quickly be reached when this option is used). The second consists in synchronizing an image only when the user requires it. The third option could be a happy medium between the synchronization methods that Google Photos currently offers.
But, as usual, since this new feature has not yet been formalized by Google, caution remains in order.
- Google Photos has been offering free and unlimited photos and videos for a long time
- When you exceed 15 GB offered with the Google account, you must take a Google One subscription or delete files to make room
- But Google could offer a new feature of Google Photos that will allow you to save the most important photos and videos, without wasting cloud storage
