A 49-year-old man had been seriously injured near the CPAS parking lot in Zottegem (Flanders-Orientale), on the night of Sunday, 19 to Monday, May 20, 2024. More than a year later, the police are looking for witnesses to this attempted murder.
The victim, who was stabbed, had been discovered around 3:45 am by a lady who recovered her vehicle in a parking lot in order to return home after spending the evening at Sinksekermis in Zottegem. She contacted the emergency services.
The forties, Jurgen Van de Walle, was out and left the “Maboel” cafe alone located in the center at 3:19 am. His exit from the establishment was confirmed by the surveillance cameras but the rest of his career remains vague. After a year of survey, the mobile remains unknown. Nothing in Jurgen’s private life indicated that someone wanted to harm him, said the federal police in a statement.
Just before falling on the victim, the woman saw a person walking in the parking lot. She describes him as a man with short and very clear hair. It is of median age, measures approximately 1m75 and is of normal corpulence. He wore jeans pants, a hooded brown sweatshirt and sneakers.
Investigators ask people in the parking lot between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024, to come forward to investigators.
Police are also looking for two young women who were aboard a small gray car and who stopped to help the victim. They could have useful information.
