The devices were spotted by the operator of this power station located in Genkai, in the southwest of the country, informed the nuclear regulatory authority. Drone flights nearby and above nuclear power plants are prohibited in Japan, have recalled this organization as well as the police.
“No anomaly was detected after the facts were reported and no drone was found inside the perimeter of the power station,” said a spokesperson for the organization.
Dismantling
The police did not find the drones, said the police spokesman. The police ignore the identity of the pilots (s) of these devices as well as the objective of this intrusion, from the same source.
The Genkai power plant, managed by Kyushu Electric Power Co., has four reactors, two of which are being dismantled.
The other two were able to continue their activity after the implementation of stricter security standards in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear disaster (northeast), caused in 2011 by an earthquake and a murderous tsunami.
