Dropbox Passwords: The end announced for October 28, 2025

Dropbox draws a line on its ambitions to compete with specialized services such as 1Password or Lastpass. The famous online file storage and sharing service has announced the gradual abandonment of its Dropbox Passwords application, its password manager launched five years ago. Its deletion is scheduled for October 28, 2025, the date on which the application will be definitively disabled and deleted user data.

As for those of Microsoft Authenticator, recently, users are therefore invited to migrate their identifiers and passwords to another platform before the deadline. Data export can be carried out in the form of a CSV file.

Dropbox has established a specific calendar for the end of its password manager. From August 28, 2025, it will no longer be possible to add new data, such as user names, passwords or payment information, in Dropbox Passwords. The service will indeed go into reading mode alone, accessible only via the mobile application and the browser extension. On September 11, 2025, the application will be disabled. Access to passwords will nevertheless remain possible from the browser extension. Finally, on October 28, 2025, Dropbox Passwords will stop working. On this date, all the remaining data will be “permanently and securely deleted” from the company’s servers, assures Dropbox in its ad.

Despite the abolition of this feature, Dropbox has not announced downward adjustments of its prices. Subscribers will therefore have to continue to pay the same price, even if the service offered will be reduced.
