Dropbox puts an end to his password manager: what are the alternatives?

Dropbox recommends going to 1Passwordundoubtedly the most popular password manager. To do this, it will be enough for you:

  • Open the “Dropbox Passwords” browser extension

  • To click on your avatar

  • To click on “Preferences” then “account”

  • Click on “Export” and confirm

You just have to use this exported file to recreate your library of identifiers and passwords on another service.

Obviously, 1Password is not the only solution on the market. Dashlane, LastPass, Nordpass or more recently Proton Pass all offer more or less the same service.

Finally, know that there are also Free solutions. On iOS and macOS, Apple offers an application baptized simply “passwords”, which is preinstalled on each device. Same on Windows with the Microsoft Edge password manager, or on Android.

For his part, Dropbox explains that The stop of “Dropbox Passwords” will allow the company of “focus on improving other features of our basic product“.
