The attackers arrived on the scene aboard two vans and opened fire on a group of people who drank alcohol in the street, in front of the entrance to a nightclub, around 1:15 am local time (7:15 am in France) in the canton of Santa LucÃa, in the province of Guayas.

Guayas is one of the four provinces in which President Daniel Noboa recently renewed the state of emergency for two months, in order to combat the violence of criminal gangs.
