The intervention lasted five months in the country and ended on May 16, 2025. More than 19,000 products were inspected, including more than 7,000 refused to enter the country and 539 seized on the border.
“Certain non -approved natural drugs or health products may not contain active ingredients, contain bad ingredients or include dangerous additives, such as prescription drugs not indicated on the label,” said Health Canada.
The majority of products entered (69%) were intended to improve sexual performance, while 10% were dietary or plant supplements.
The Pangea XVII operation took place in 90 countries from December 16, 2024 to May 16, 2025, allowing the seizure of 50.4 million illicit tablets estimated at $ 88 million. This initiative led to the dismantling of 123 criminal groups and the arrest of 769 people internationally.
“Falsified and unauthorized drugs represent a serious risk to public health. They can contain dangerous or illegal ingredients, which can lead to serious illnesses, even death, “the acting director of the organized and emerging crime of Interpol, David Caunter, told Global News.
