Eric Willemin left us at the age of 77 – Rts.ch

A tall man of the TSR/RTS died on Friday afternoon. Eric Willemin, seriously reached in his health for several years, left us at the age of 77.

Coming on French -speaking Swiss television on January 1, 1977 as a sports journalist, Eric Willemin had taken an early retirement in 2010.

Born in Geneva on May 23, 1948, Eric Willemin had carried out his journalism internship at the “Tribune de Genève”, before becoming a freelance and specializing in the great report. He had started at the TSR as a sports journalist and joined, at the time, the last French team to present the TJ from Zurich.

Specialist in ice hockey, he also commented on swimming events at Worlds and Olympic Games and covered the Louis Vuitton Cup in Auckland in 2003.

Passionate about sport, Eric Willemin had also been by music. A child violinist, then guitarist in a rock group, this musician journalist had discovered a rare instrument: the zither. An artistic revelation which had led him to perform in public, to record 10 records, to participate in the tour of the Christmas concerts of Alain Morisod in 1998, then to create in 2003 a musical show around Edith Piaf. Since 2000, he had also commented and presented in French the famous Musikantenstadl.
