Europ Assistance Belgium experienced a sharp increase in the number of calls in July

Europ Assistance Belgium recorded an increase of 16 percent of Belgian calls needing aid abroad in July, compared to the previous month. The assistance organization warned against a weekend in charge on European roads.

In the news: Europ Assistance Belgium received more than 87,000 telephone calls between June 27, 2025 and July 29, 2025. This represents an average of 2,700 calls per day.

  • The assistance provider has never received as many calls as on July 22.
  • The greatest number of calls comes from France (38 percent), the Netherlands (20 percent), Spain (10 percent), Germany (7 percent), Luxembourg (6 percent) and Italy (6 percent).
  • Remote destinations such as Thailand, the United States and Indonesia have also requested frequent assistance.

Details : The number of medical interventions increased by 16 percent to 1,396. These are only interventions abroad.

  • According to Europ Assistance Belgium, the sharp increase in calls is due to the persistence of heat in southern Europe, which has led to an increase in cases of digestive problems, infections and heat strokes.
    • However, injuries and wounds (41 percent) remain the most frequent medical problems, followed by infections (14 percent) and gastrointestinal problems (13 percent).
