Georges Ibrahim Abdallah has a bright smile. At 74, he is tired, but happy to have finally found his family and his country after more than forty years spent in a French prison. Man is politically standing. It was not broken. He received us exclusively.
Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, you are finally free after forty years of imprisonment in France. How do you feel?
I am overwhelmed by all this human warmth and this warmth of struggle that surrounds me at the moment. The situation in Lebanon seems less bad to me, if you can say, that I thought. I immediately felt a lively force of the country, which has not disappeared.
It lets hope for a continuation of the struggle and the resistance. Above all, I believe that the “somalization” or the “balkanization” of Lebanon is dismissed.
What did you feel when you arrived here in Lebanon, in your family?
It is difficult to describe my emotion. I was pleasantly surprised. The various Lebanese political forces were present. But, above all, there have been incredible scenes. Men, women, and young people I have never seen entered the plane to kiss me. I immediately found Lebanon.
