The prices of the electricity distribution network will increase in Wallonia in the coming years. For an average family, in 2029, this part of the electricity bill will be on average 39 euros higher than in 2025 (+13%). The CWAPE has indeed approved the proposals of periodic electricity distribution tariffs for the period 2026-2029 in the Walloon Region of Distribution Networks (GRD), the Walloon Commission for energy in a press release said on Tuesday.
Cumulative authorized income from all GRD Walloons increased by 11% between 2025 and 2029, from 912 million euros in 2025 to around 1 billion euros in 2029. This increase is notably linked to the increase in communicating meter deployment budgets, the indexing of GRD costs and the increase in electricity purchase costs.
The weighted average of low-voltage distribution costs (for the Bihorarian residential standard customer, 3,408 kWh) in Wallonia in 2026 will increase by 8% compared to 2025. The increase over the period 2025-2029 is 13% (+39 euros over 5 years).
The prosumer capacity rate (fixed amount based on the installed power of the photovoltaic system and billed to prosumers who do not have a communicating meter) also increases. Between 2025 and 2029, these prices present, according to the GRD, increases from 3 to 9%. The approval concerns all GRDs with the exception of those of Rew (active in the municipalities of Wavres, Bierges and Limal) which will be approved later, indicates the CWAPE.
As a reminder, the new time slots of the Bihéraire which will apply from January 1, 2026 will no longer distinguish between week and weekend days and will introduce an additional hollow hours beach during the day, between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This change will be automatic with all consumers in bihorées.
