Day after day, month after month, photographs illustrating famine in Gaza are multiplying. We see Gazaouis the skin on the bones, visible ribs and frail arms. Israel also announced on Saturday the immediate recovery of humanitarian aid parachuting in the territory.
Interview with Daniel Bensimon, Israeli journalist and former Labor MP for Knesset.
The full interview will be presented on Sunday at The all -terrain programbroadcast from 10 h (Hae) on here First and on the Ohdio application.
These very difficult images to look at from starry children in Gaza, have we seen them in Israel?
Not all images. I must say that many Israelis are not aware of the severity of the problem. You have to navigate foreign channels to see these incredible images. Not only do the Israelis do not see these foreign channels, but they do not believe these images. […] Everything is put on the back of Hamas, since he assures the order to Gaza and decides who receives food and who does not receive it. In the eyes of the Israelis, Hamas plays a political game for famine.
It has been two years since the Israeli army did not give the right to the Israeli press to enter Gaza. So we don’t see things in front. Israel receives foreign television channels, but not all. And the Israelis are victims of censorship; They do not know exactly what the real images are and what are the fake images.

Are there not Israelis who participated in demonstrations to denounce the use of famine as a weapon of war?
Yes of course. First, I must say that these images are not foreign to the Jewish people, to the Israeli people after the Holocaust. These Images of Gaza remind many Israelis the situation of the Jews during the Holocaust. […] And that affects the conscience of Israelis. I must say that it stirs a lot; These are terrible images. And then, you know, Gaza and Israel are very close territories.

Is it enough for the Netanyahu government to end the war in Gaza?
For the moment, it is not famine, but the initiative of the French president, Emmanuel Macron, to recognize the Palestinian state which creates a terrible wave of indignation in Israel.
The goal of Israel is to repel the Palestinians because the Palestinian state is the worst enemy of Netanyahu. For him, the very existence of the Palestinian state means the end of the Hebrew state. So, President Macron’s declaration created a political storm in Israel. And if other countries follow the plunge, it will be terrible for Israel.
It is not certain that it can move Prime Minister Netanyahu. […] He needs this war to survive politically. He has the most severe coalition since the creation of the Hebrew state: right and extreme right, very religious and orthodox. He therefore needs this war to keep this coalition united.

Is the permission given by the Israeli army to foreign countries to resume the drops in humanitarian aid is a sign that Israel is raising the foot?
Children are the main victims of this famine crisis. You have to do things as quickly as possible because, every day, there are more and more dead. And that, for Israel, for Netanyahu and for the international community, is very bad. So, I would say that these images create pressure on Israel and even on Netanyahu.

So, is there a little hope?
For a pessimistic like me, I would say that the more sad the images, the more likely there is a solution. […] I must say that, in the last days, the Israeli army has opened all the doors, it said to the international community: enter your equipment, enter your humanitarian aid. Before, it was more difficult. […] After the dissemination of these images, after international pressures, the army opens the doors of Gaza to more humanitarian aid.
