Two deadly stab wounds
According to the prosecution, the evening of the murder, the victim, who was at home with her two daughters, saw her ex-spouse at the bottom of her building. She got off her apartment to meet her. An altercation then broke out between the 38 -year -old man and Tatiana Mevel, accompanied by one of his daughters. A few moments later, he had two deadly stab wounds at the mother’s neck, before leaving the premises.
Two complaints filed
In the weeks preceding the facts, the former municipal employee of Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets had filed two complaints, reveals the prosecution. A first, July 18, 2025, at the Saint-Malo police station. She indicated that she had separated from her spouse at the beginning of the month. Since then, he has been trying to win her back by sending her many messages, trying to reach her by phone and presenting herself to her house. Tatiana Mevel said he was not the victim of physical, verbal or sexual violence, nor a threat of death from him. The facts were then qualified as harassment by the investigators.
On August 2, a second complaint was recorded by the gendarmerie of Châteauneuf-d’Aille-et-Vilaine. She suspected her former companion for having degraded her vehicle.
On the drama day, the two investigations were still in progress.
The gendarme released
After committing his irreparable gesture, the suspect fled, prosecuted by the police, towards his accommodation located in Taden, near Dinan (Côtes-d’Armor). Located by the gendarmes, the man, after having recovered his machete present in his vehicle, adopted a threatening attitude against them, according to the results of the investigations. After an electric pulse shot without result, confirmed by the autopsy, one of the gendarmes shot him with two shots.
The agent in question had then been placed in police custody. Under the investigation of the general inspection of the gendarmerie, the prosecution decided to release it. The investigations continue, says the prosecution.
Behind her, Tatiana Mevel leaves three children, two teenagers aged 15 and 17, as well as an 8 -year -old son. The custody of the two girls present during the facts was entrusted to social assistance to childhood.
