First quarter | RPC investments recorded a return of 1 %

(Toronto) The Canada Pension Pension Plan Investment Office (RPC Investments) announced that it has generated a net return of 1 % for its first quarter.

The president and chief executive officer of the RPC investment department, John Graham, indicated that the evolution of the dynamics of trade and general geopolitical uncertainty fueled a revival of volatility on the global markets during the quarter.

“In this situation, the body has remained resilient, thanks to our diversified investment strategy comprising a wide range of geographic exhibitions which contribute to counterweight to variations in trends in terms of employment, wages and demography influencing RPC contributions,” Graham said in a press release on Thursday.

We continue to concentrate our efforts to offer long -term value to contributors, contributors and beneficiaries of the RPC.

Despite the market withdrawal at the start of the period, the fund noted that the stocks listed on the stock exchange rebounded at the end of the quarter, thus contributing to the overall performance.

The fund said that the energy assets and the excellent results of its external management programs have also contributed to returns, but that it had to face the difficulties linked to the depreciation of the US dollar compared to the Huard in a context of uncertainty linked to customs duties.

The investment manager said that the net assets amounted to 731.7 billion dated June 30, up compared to the 714.4 billion from the end of the previous quarter.

This increase includes net profit of 7.5 billion and net transfers of 9.8 billion in Canada’s pension diet.

The fund has indicated that it regularly receives contributions to the RPC greater than those necessary for the payment of benefits during the first part of the calendar year, which is partially compensated by payments of benefits higher than the contributions in recent months of the year.

The annualized net returns of the fund over ten years was 8.4 %.
