Eager to replay in a large old -continent championship, Florian Thauvin joined the Udinese Calcio – a historic club which has never left the Italian elite – in January 2023. Bianconeri (“Black and white”), the attacking midfielder finds colors and tastes transalpine thoroughness. After taking his marks in 2022/23, he worked hard to win in the 3-5-2 of Gabriele Cioffi the following season. In a second attacker’s role, he marked against Fiorentina (2-2) then against Milan (3-2). Installed on the front of the attack, it then allows the Udinese to tear out results against the Salernitana (1-1, passer), the Lazio (1-2, passer) and Sassuolo (1-1, scorer). A sign of its importance in the game of his team, he is one of the players who display the highest ratio ofexpected assists per game in Serie A (0.22).
Back at a high level of performance, Florian Thauvin found himself at the heart of the project in 2024/25. In Italy, the 2018 world champion puts everyone on his boot. Involved on 45% of Udinese’s goals in 2024, he dictated the tempo thanks to his quality of dribble, his vision of the game and his leadership. Appointed Captain, the number 10 saves his own against Lazio (1 goal, 1 assist) and Parma (doubled) from the start of the season. Present in major meetings, he is still decisive against Atalanta, Napoli and Fiorentina before scoring three times in four days in February-March. Stopped by pain in the foot from March 2025, he concluded this exercise with 9 achievements and 4 assists in 26 appearances, figures which situate it among the most decisive attacking circles in the championship.
