In a letter published on X, the minnesota representative at the US Congress, Pete Stauber, denounces the management of the Canadian authorities in this issue.

“The suffocating smoke of Canadian forest fires (…) invades the air at the start of this summer,” said Stauber in the letter co-written with republican representatives Tom Tiffany, Brad Finstad, Tom Emmer, Glenn Grothman and Michelle Fischbach.

“Our communities do not have to assume the cost of their negligence,” added Pete Stauber.

According to elected officials, the citizens of Minnesota and Wisconsin are even “limited in their capacity” to stay outside due to the “dangerous quality” of air.

The letter was sent to Kirsten Hillman, Canada Ambassador to Washington, who did not react publicly to the letter.

Recall that the Western Canada has been undergoing major forest fires in recent weeks. Alberta, especially the city of Jasper, was very affected by fires last year.

It was especially in 2023 that the lights had caused many damage and poor air quality in the country as well as in the United States.
