From Friday 27 to Sunday 29 June, The Salle des Aspres will host, for the first time in the department, the French Boccia NE championship, a major event organized by the Handisport departmental committee of the P.-O. and the Occitanie Handisport Committee.
Boccia, a paralympic sport assimilated to pétanque, is an interior discipline reserved for people with motor disabilities. Equipped with red or blue leather balls, players must, in four rounds, get as close as possible to the jack, a small white ball, and thus score as many points as possible.
This edition will notably see the participation of three dismissed athletes in the Boccia Trouillas Handisport club, which will represent the colors of the P.-O.
Competition will start the Friday June 27 with the group phases, to continue all weekend to the planned finals Sunday June 29 afternoon.
In addition to the matches, several events open to all will be offered: a Who is it ? Wooden giant, a photo booth, as well as a refreshment bar to eat.
While the Boccia has experienced a revival of popularity from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, this championship is a unique opportunity to discover, support and get out of the discipline as technical as it is spectacular.
