Regional champions of their respective categories, the Haut-Garonnais Albin Colette (TC Balma, 15-16 years old) and Victor Barreira-Bonzom (TC Fonsorbes, 17-18 years old) have an appointment next week Porte d’Auteuil.

“Yes, Roland-Garros is necessarily mythical. It’s a chance. Despite everything, we do not put ourselves pressure compared to this place. We have already walked these magnificent shorts. So it motivates us even more to be efficient. »»

A few days before attacking the French championship in their respective categories, Albin Colette (1/6, TC Balma, 15-16 years old) and Victor Barreira-Bonzom (-2/6, TC Fonsorbes, 17-18 years old) this week refine the last settings on the installations of the Toulouse stadium Tennis Padel.

“It is a small internship supervised by the Occitanie League, which brings together those who will go to Roland next week. It happens in a good atmosphere. There is a healthy emulation between us. And it is also an additional motivation, ”ensure the two Haut-Garonnais, winners at the end of April of the regional championship.

Colette: “I can’t serve 100 %”

In 15-16 years, Albin tackles the Parisian meeting with a little pain in the elbow.

“It’s been a while since it hangs out. And at the service, I cannot go 100 %. Therefore, you have to adapt and I will be content with second balls. For the rest, I am quite confident. On paper, I am not one of the best classified. Nevertheless, I do not go there to do figuration. I’m going to attack the tournament on Monday, ”comments the Balmanais.

As a reminder, in 2023, among 13-14 year olds, he had given in. Then, last year, he stopped in quarters. “For this new edition, I will be once again aligned in doubles,” says the one who remains on two half in this specialty. Finally, note that the TCB player has currently been disputed, since January, ten tests of the ITF junior circuit with the best result of a defeat in the final in early June in Morocco.

Barreira-Bonzom remains on two double finals

For his part, Victor was embarrassed at the start of the year by a psoas injury. “Since then, everything is better. The French championship remains one of the major competitions on the calendar. It is always important to me to be able to dispute it. On paper, I am not part of the best classified. But as with each tournament, I go to win it. The table should be quite homogeneous, ”announces the Fonsorbais, which in principle must enter the track on Wednesday.

In 2023, among 15-16 year olds, he had stalled in the 1st round in simple and lost in the double final. As for last year, in this same category, he had returned to the 2nd round in single, with another title of vice-champion in double.

Finally, on the ITF Juniors circuit, Victor has so far played fifteen tournaments this year, with a better result in a quarter in a quarter. On the other hand, in double, since January, he added two lines to his record for a total of five titles in this specialty.
