Frightening figures for Donald Trump

But now, 5 months after his return to power, his posture has changed a lot. He is now the president who (r) opened hostilities with Tehran. In support of Israel, the Republican Head of State has ordered strikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure. To which the authorities responded by attacking an American base near Doha. Since then, the American president has declared that he had concluded a cease-fire between Israel and Iran, but the situation does not seem to calm down. The missiles continue to fall. Still no peace in sight for Donald Trump, who loses patience. “The two countries do not know what they are doing,” he launched, this Tuesday, June 24, visibly upset.

Americans who disapprove of Donald Trump’s actions

It must be said that the situation is special for the president. If he boasted of having completely destroyed the essential installations of nuclear enrichment of Iran, pushing “the Caid of the Middle East” to make peace, things are seen very differently within his country. According to a CNN survey, carried out between this Sunday, 22nd and this Monday, June 23, a majority of Americans (56%) disapproves of Trump’s decision to hit Iran. Furthermore, six out of ten Americans think that these attacks are likely to increase the Iranian threat to their soil.

Of course, this disapproval of Donald Trump’s decisions is more marked within the Democratic population (88%), but also independent (60%). On the other hand, only 18% of the Republicans questioned oppose American attacks in Iran.

These figures echo the popularity rate of the president who looks gray. The latest survey, carried out by Yougov between June 20 and 23 for The Economist, shows that only 40% of Americans approve of the president’s policy. 54% disapprove of it. Another survey, carried out by Ipsos between June 21 and 23 for Reuters, evokes an approval rate of 41% and disapproval of 57%. If older surveys give fairly similar figures, one of them, made by American Research Group between June 17 and 20, book even more alarming results for the White House tenant: an approval rate of 38% and an disapproval rate of 59%.

In Iran, Donald Trump has taken a historic step but finds himself in a delicate position in his country

“Trump promised that he would put an end to foreign wars”

In Donald Trump’s own ranks, voices have been raised in recent days against his actions in Iran. The intelligence chef, Tulsi Gabbard, notably expressed his skepticism in a video that has not gone unnoticed. Republican deputy Marjorie Taylor Greene, an emblematic figure of the Maga movement, also criticized the fact that the United States was involved in this conflict in the Middle East. “I was elected on the basis of the same campaign promises as President Trump: we promised to put an end to foreign wars. No more regime change!”, She told CNN, illustrating discomfort within the Maga movement which advocates insulationism.
