In a joint declaration shared by Global Affairs Canada, the foreign ministers of Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Norway, Australia and New Zealand indicated that they “reject the decision taken on August 8 by the Israeli security firm to launch a new large-scale military operation in Gaza”.
Canada and its partners believe that such an offensive “aggravates the catastrophic humanitarian situation” by endangering the life of the hostages and by causing a massive movement of the population.
They consider that the plans of the Israeli government “are likely to violate international law”.
“Any attempt at annexation or extension of the colonies violates international law,” read the press release from the federal government.
Foreign Ministers behind this joint declaration call on the Israeli government to “urgently find solutions to modify its recent registration system for international organizations, in order to guarantee that these essential actors of humanitarian aid can continue their essential work”.
