Following the slight decreases announced in temperatures, the Cantons of Geneva and Vaud will lift the heat wave alert on Sunday evening. This second scorching episode of the summer began on August 8 and lasted nine consecutive days.
(Keystone-ATS) The service of the Geneva cantonal doctor will lift the heat wave alert from Sunday 6:00 p.m., he announced on Friday in a statement. Municipalities and institutions are invited to deactivate their “hot” plans.
In the canton of Vaud, the decision was made by the Department of Health and Social Action (DSAS). This one “thus lifts the heat wave plans of socio -anitary institutions (…) and municipalities from Sunday evening,” he said in a statement on Friday.
The DSAS, however, invites us not to release vigilance, as health problems resulting from the heat wave may arise later. If in doubt, it is advisable to call a doctor.
No saturation of hospitals
For their part, the Geneva health authorities recall that the precautions to protect themselves from the heat remain topical for the whole population, regardless of age. They add that the healthcare network has observed a slight increase in care -controlled care without seeing saturation.
The probability of a new scorching episode by the end of the summer seems weak, still estimates the Geneva department of health. As a precautionary measure, a health watch is however maintained until September 15.
