The growth in the number of cross -border workers continues to slow down
At the end of June, they were almost 114,700 active in the canton of Geneva. The settlement of their workforce observed at the end of 2024 continues.

In the second quarter of 2025, the number of foreign border workers active in the Canton of Geneva increased by 0.4% compared to the previous quarter, reports the Cantonal Statistics Office (Hectat).
This moderate increase confirms the slowdown started since the end of last year, with +0.6% in the first quarter of 2025 and +1.6% in the fourth quarter of 2024. In comparison, the average increase at the national level was only 0.1% over the same period.
At the end of June, Geneva had nearly 114,700 foreign borders, or 28% of the total of 40600 active in Switzerland. The canton thus remains the first employer of cross -border workers in the country.
