Social allowances and public service wages will therefore be increased by 2% in April 2026 to follow the evolution of the cost of living.
The pivot index was exceeded last January. Consequently, social allowances were adapted to the increase in the cost of living, by 2%, in February 2025 and the wages of the public service in March 2025.
Regarding inflation, the forecast body tables 2.3% this year and 1.3% in 2026, against 3.14% in 2024 and 4.06% in 2023.
The growth of the health index, which is used, among other things, for the calculation of the indexing of wages, social allowances and rents, is estimated at 2.5% this year and 1.5% in 2026, against 3.28% in 2024 and 4.33% in 2023.
The calculations of the Plan Bureau relate to a period from July 2025 to December 2026 and are based on statbel observations until June.
