Steven Fisonfeder, meteorologist at Environment and Climate Change Canada, mentions that at noon he had already fallen up to 40 mm of rain in places.
The sectors located near the city of Quebec and southwest of the capital, on the southern bank, were particularly affected.
Mr. Fisonfed explains that precipitation stems from a depression that moves from Ontario to Quebec. This system generates conditions Very hot and very humid
which are conducive to violent thunderstorms.
Since depression moves very slowly
To the east, other violent thunderstorms are expected throughout South Quebec in the afternoon. The weather conditions could even generate tornadoes, warns Steven Fisonfeder.
This afternoon, there will still be rain, but there will also be strong winds, possibly, and even a risk of tornado, especially for the sectors located near the border with Maine and New Brunswick
specifies the meteorologist.
