Google introduces in the beta version of messages an improved method to confirm that you respond well to the desired contact. This method replaces the old secure encryption method with contact with the comparison of an 80 -digit code.
The new method based on the QR code makes verification a little simpler. You can now ask the contact to scan your QR and vice versa code. This feature is currently deployed in the beta messages application and is available on devices operating at Android 9 and beyond.
As spotted https://9to5Google.com/2025/08/25/google-messages-qr-code-key/ 9TO5GOOGLE, to access this new feature, you must register for Google’s beta program. You can do this by visiting the list of the Google Messages application on the Play Store, scrolling down and clicking on the “join” button in the section entitled “Become a beta tester”
Once registered, you should see a new update of your messages application. To use the functionality, open the contact details page by pressing a conversation, then on the name of your contact. Scroll to the end -to -end encryption card and press “check the encryption”
A new “Security and Confidentiality” tab opens then, with the option “Check the keys to this contact” by typing on it, you will have the possibility of “scanning the QR code”, and vice versa. Google plans a global deployment in 2025 and will also support third -party messaging applications once it is available.
