Google Photos is enriched with new tools to transform your shots into videos or anime or comic illustrations.
The Google Photos application is no longer content to classify your images. It gradually becomes a real space of creation doped for artificial intelligence. Today, two new functions will give life to your photos: the first transforms them into videos of a few seconds, the second revisits them through different graphic styles. The whole thing is accompanied by a new interface.
Google Photos gives life to your photos thanks to Veo 2
The first novelty is a video generation tool from a photo. Thanks to Veo 2 technology, already used in Gemini, Google offers to create a six -second clip from a single snapshot. Two modes are available: “subtle movements” for soft animations, and “I’m lucky” for a more random rendering.

This function is already available in the United States on Android and iOS. And it is not limited to Google Photos : YouTube Shorts will also benefit from this photo-video generator in the coming days, for users located in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Global deployment is later scheduled in the year.
Give your photos a new style with a click
The second feature is based on the principle of “remix”. Here, it is a question of transforming a photo into illustration using several visual styles. You can obviously choose from styles inspired by manga, comics, sketches or even 3D animation. This mode will be accessible in the United States “in the coming weeks”, according to Google.
To facilitate access to all of these tools, the application will accommodate a new “Create” tab (Create), located in the lower navigation bar, between “collections” and “research”. A unified menu that should point the nose in the course of August.

Finally, Google specifies that all the content generated via these features will be stamped with an invisible digital watermark (Synthid) and visible marking, to guarantee their traceability as creations from an AI.
