Geneva and Vaud trigger the heat wave alert. Measures are taken to protect vulnerable people.

The cantonal authorities take action in the face of the heat wave of the next few days. Ticino triggers its heat wave alert from Friday noon until Wednesday evening. In Geneva and in the canton of Vaud, the alert was launched on Saturday.
Fresh places will be made available in Geneva and retirees will be able to access municipal swimming pools and cinemas for free. In the canton of Vaud, regular monitoring of vulnerable people, with home visits and calls, will be set up.
Adapt your behavior
Météosuisse provides for a level 3 heat wave, i.e. average temperatures greater than 25 degrees for at least three days in a row, the Ticino authorities said in a press release. They invite the population to adapt their behavior accordingly.
It is “strongly recommended” to reduce outdoor activities during the hottest hours, moderate exposure to the sun and drink a lot of water. Alcoholic drinks should be avoided. (JZS/ATS)
