Helicopter crushing on the North Shore | A passenger found lifeless

One of the four sought after passengers of the helicopter who crashed on Friday was found lifeless on Monday.

The person was drafted on Monday, around 7 p.m., by the divers of the Sûreté du Québec in the waters of Lac Watshishou located in an area remote north of Havre-Saint-Pierre and Natashquan on the North Shore. His identity remains unknown for the moment.

“Research in order to locate the device and [trois] Other passengers are expected to continue tomorrow, “said Quebec Surprise spokesperson Camille Savoie.

The BK117 model helicopter of the Airmedic company was doing a patient’s medical evacuation on Friday evening. The device crashed shortly after taking off around 10:30 p.m.

A member of the crew managed to get out of the device after the crushing and survived. The other four people, three crew members and the patient, are still sought after by the Sûreté du Québec.

During the weekend, aircraft of the Royal Canadian aviation carried out “in-depth visual research in the area corresponding to the last known position of the Air Medic helicopter,” the spokesman of the Canadian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-commander Len Hickey, said by email. The latter specifies that the teams of the Canadian Armed Forces ended their research operations at 3 p.m. Sunday. Only the Sûreté du Québec now continues research.

In a statement issued on Monday afternoon, Airmedic “reiterated his decision to temporarily suspend his operations in order to prioritize the well-being of his teams”. “This is a moment of deep sadness for the entire big Airmedic family. This tragedy upsets us all. This is why we have set up all the psychosocial resources necessary to support our employees, ”read the press release.
