Hermès continues its industrial network in France

The luxury saddler has just launched the work of its third manufacture in the Ardennes, in Charleville-Mézières, on the site of an old industrial wasteland. A way of combining crafts of excellence, revitalization of territories and ecological transition.

The gesture is not symbolic. By 2027, some 250 craftsmen will settle on the 5,800 m² of the new site. The whole will extend on a 20,000 m² plot, with solar on the roofs, from the heat network in the basement and a lot of full ground between the two. A form of industrial, rigorous and decarbonated elegance. Almost a luxury.

An industrial strategy anchored in French territories

With this establishment, Hermès confirms its strategic choice: producing in France, training on site, and anchor its development in retraining employment areas. The Ardenne, long dedicated to steel, becomes a leather land.

In Bogny-sur-Meuse and La Sormonne, two already operational sites, nearly 600 people make every day what the planet is tearing. A house school completes the system, discreet manufacture of know-how.

An industrial wasteland transformed into a sustainable production site

Charleville-Mézières perfectly illustrates this desire for controlled conversion. The former industrial wasteland comes back to life, structured around a project combining functional architecture and environmental requirements. The future building will be energetically sober, integrated into its environment and designed to last.
