Hlinka-Gretzky Cup: Canada has lost play-off against the United States in the semi-finals

Canada will not defend its title in the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup gold medal match.

The young Canadians dropped pavilion 4 to 3 in dam fire in front of the Americans in the semi-finals of the competition on Friday.

Champions of the last three editions of the tournament, the troupe directed this year by Quebecois Mathieu Turcotte will face Finland for the bronze medal on Saturday 11 a.m. (on RDS and the RDS.CA).

Late 3 to 1 when starting the third period, the representatives of the unifolié were able to go up the slope. Tynan Lawrence first thwarted Brady Knowling with a precise shot in the upper part.

If the American goalkeeper could not do anything about this goal, it is different on the equalizing net of Canada. Mathis Preston has downgraded a throw that escaped his rival to level the brand with just over five minutes to make commitment.

Canada was able to sell a portion of the penalty to Ryan Lin at the end of an extension to force the firefighters.

The Americans set the tone for the session with nets of the first three players, Joseph Salandra, Nikita Klepov and Blake Zielinski. Liam Ruck represented Canada’s last hope and his shot was arrested by Knowling. Mathis Preston was the only player under the orders of Mathieu Turcotte to mark, thanks to a magnificent maneuver

Noah Davidson had given the leads to the Americans a little after the fifth minute of play at the start of the match. Ethen Belchetz ensured the reply from the 34th second of play of the median period. However, this commitment was the case of the Americans thereafter since Luke Puchner and Blake Zielinski made the ropes vibrate before retreating in the locker room.

In the other semi-final, Sweden has managed four consecutive goals to win 6 to 5 on Finland in overtime and make an appointment with the United States for the title.
