After a day of overwhelming heat, violent thunderstorms developed in French -speaking Switzerland. The hail has notably struck the Oron region as well as brĂ©vin. Chavornay’s under-revision passage was flooded.
In Chavornay, the firefighters worked to extract the water from the sub-toy passage, said David Guisolan, spokesperson for the cantonal police. The trains suffered up to 10 minutes late following the incident that occurred around 6:00 p.m., according to SBB.
The region was subjected to strong precipitation, including orb hail. Bouts of eggs have risen, causing disturbances. The situation is in the process of being restored. The extent of the damage is not known, said Mr. Guisolan.
In Brévine, large hailstones like eggs have fallen, announces the Météo Robin Facebook page, impressive supporting images (see video below). Cars and verandas would have suffered quite in this region.
Haut-Valais hard hit
A violent thunderstorm in Mattertal caused a landslide on the Matthehorn-Gotthard-Bahn railway line. The firefighters also had to intervene in several other municipalities in Haut-Valais.
The rail line was interrupted between Kalpetran and Täsch, the line leading to Zermatt, said the company on the X platform. A replacement transport was set up between Täsch (VS) and Randa (VS). The mud flow also touched the road. The firefighters were mobilized in Naters, Rarogne and St. Niklaus due to damage. Until now, Valais police have had no information on any injuries at the beginning of the evening.
Air Zermatt also received three alarms for a fire start to St. Niklaus, Blatten Bei Naters and Oberems. The lights were able to be quickly under control, the airline said in a statement.

A landslide has buried the albula pass route on Monday evening between BergĂ¼n and Predda (GR) on Monday evening. The duration of the road is not yet determined, according to the police.
The landslide occurred on the road approximately 500 meters from Predda, a spokesperson for the Grisons police in Keystone-Ats said. The amount of materials that landed on the road is currently unknown.
The spokesman was not aware of a “bad weather problem” in GraubĂ¼nden, he said, referring to the mudslides that occurred in Valais on Monday evening after violent thunderstorms.
