The shooting stars of summer will reach their peak of activity. This is the ideal time to observe them!
The Perseids promise us a breathtaking spectacle every year. From 50 to a hundred meteors per hour, it is the rain of the most spectacular shooting stars of the year. This unmissable event for astronomy lovers becomes particularly unforgettable in August thanks to excellent conditions of observations. Here is all the information you need to know so as not to miss this event.
If the Perseids are long awaited by amateurs of astronomy it is because at the time of their peak, which will occur on the night of Tuesday August 13 to Wednesday August 13, 2025, up to 100 meteors can be observed per hour with the naked eye. No need for telescope! Whether you are an amateur or simple curious astronomer, now is the time to discover the beauty of the celestial vault and make full vows!
Behind this magnificent rain of shooting stars hides the comet 109p-upttle which goes around the sun in 133 years. Each year, the earth meets the orbit of this comet and thus meets the cloud of debris which it leaves behind it. By crossing the atmosphere of our planet, these debris heat up and create the light streaks that we see from the earth.
To put the odds on your side and see a maximum of shooting stars, it is better to place yourself in an area that is not very urbanized in order to limit the light pollution which makes the sky milky and embarrassments. We also advise you to cover you to avoid being cold and preparing a hot drink. For the most diligent, the most comfortable is to settle on a deckchair to avoid neck pain and take advantage of this magic event as long as possible. Also watch the weather which will tell you the presence of clouds that could come to hide the sky and spoil the spectacle. If the forecasts are bad, do not despair: the Perseids extend over several weeks until August 24. You can try your luck the following days with perhaps more success!
