At the start of the year, Huawei lifted the veil on its very expensive new foldable smartphone in book format, the Huawei Mate X6, successor to Mate X5. And it is a fairly stunning configuration that he offers us, with its compact and fine design, its two large screens and its innovative photo sensor allowing to faithfully reproduce colors. On the other hand, we must again and always deal with the absence of Google services … Anyway, this reduction of 500 euros comes shortly after the release of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which has also increased its price compared to the previous model.

A book format with finesse
The Huawei Mate X6 is therefore a “book” foldable smartphone which first presents a rather elegant design with its vegan leather back and its amazing finesse on this type of product. Indeed, with its 4.6 mm thick when it is unfolded (9.9 mm folded), coupled with its excessive weight of 239 grams, this Mate X6 should offer a comfortable and pleasant grip.
On the screens side, there is first of all, outside, an OLED LTPO panel, whose cooling rate can therefore vary between 1 and 120 Hz, 6.45 inch. It also offers a definition of 2,440 x 1,080 pixels, or the insurance of a good level of details.
Inside, a large 7.93 inch OLED LTPO screen is revealed, with a definition of 2,440 x 2,240 pixels. In short, a duo that should promise a good image and display quality, even if the foldable format implies the appearance of black bands when watching a video, for example. But with such a size, this small concession is not difficult to make.
An excellent photo part
On the back of the smartphone, nestles a huge optical block on three 50 + 48 + 40 megapixel photo sensors, respectively a big angle, a telephoto lens (with X4 optical zoom) and an ultra-angle. A beautiful versatility, therefore. Note that Huawei has also bet on homemade hardware technology, the ultra chroma camera, a sensor that allows you to capture the real colors of the objects taken in photography so to reproduce them very faithfully on the screen. We tried it, and it’s quite stunning. It is not very surprising from the brand, which always innovates very strong in photos.
On the performance side, it is a homemade sock, the Kirin 9020, which takes place in the bowl bowels. Here it is coupled with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The smartphone also operates under EMUI 15, and due to the scramble between the United States and Huawei, Mate X6 goes from all Google services. You will therefore not find the Play Store, Google Maps or YouTube, applications which are all replaced by house versions of the Chinese brand. So think well before you buy.
Finally, on the autonomy side, the Huawei Mate X6 incorporates a 5110 mAh battery, compatible with a 66 W fast charge.
