Humanitarian funding | Canada undertakes to pay 30 million in Gaza

(Ottawa) Canada adds 30 million to its humanitarian funding for Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, as well as 10 million to help the Palestinian authority to reform for a possible state.

Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced the new financing on Monday at a major United Nations Conference in New York to find ways to preserve the two -state solution.

This conference is held as international experts warn against famine in Gaza, where Israel has slightly relaxed its restrictions on the delivery of help to desperate Palestinians.

Minister Anand claims that the 30 million will reach Gaza “as soon as possible on the logistical level” and calls on a cease-fire to help the region progress towards peace.

Canada has not joined France to announce its intention to recognize a Palestinian state, but rather affirms that the Palestinian authority must “undertake the global reforms necessary to govern Gaza and the West Bank”.

Ottawa undertakes to pay 10 million to accelerate reforms so that the Palestinian authority can ensure “legitimate and democratic governance”.
