Impacts on companies from here

In a statement issued Thursday morning, the CCISF and the Federation of Quebec Chambers of Commerce (FCCQ) “disturb the current impasse between Air Canada and the Canadian Public Service Syndicate”.

This impasse could lead to a work stoppage of Air Canada ons on August 16. According to the CCISF, such an interruption of service, during the tourist season, would have “devastating impacts on the economy of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean”.

This could penalize travelers expected by many companies. Business people and certain investment projects would also be assigned.

The president and general manager of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Saguenay-Fjord, Sandra Rossignol, indicates that this is added to the economic instability which weighs on companies and challenges the government.

“Revenues are under pressure and business people have no predictability for the coming months. Such a strike would be too much. The numerous work conflicts in recent years show that we have socially difficulty paying our disputes before reaching the break point. The Saguenay – the Fjord Chamber of Commerce and Industry calls on the actors concerned to find common ground. Otherwise, the federal government must intervene in order to make the parties hear reason. The economy must take precedence in these difficult times! ”

The CCISF and the FCCQ recall that Air Canada is the largest carrier in the region.

Note that the Air Canada Express services, operated by Jazz, will not be impacted by the strike.
