The promised incident David to the Antwerp has still demonstrated it: reprehensible behaviors are still far too present in football stadiums.
To counter this disturbing phenomenon, Lorin Palays wishes to go even further. Indeed, the boss of the pro League wants, in addition to stadium bans, preventing troublemakers from playing football in their clubs.
“Everyone is responsible for the image of our sport”
If the negative often takes precedence over the positive, everything is not black either in our stages in Belgium. “The number of incidents decreased by 10 % compared to last season. It is a clear sign that we are on the right track”said the boss of the Pro League in a press release. In the past three seasons, 678 stadium bans have been pronounced, more than 820 years of exclusion.
A figure that demonstrates that the league has intensified its fight against inappropriate behavior. Despite these encouraging results, Lorin Palays wants to go even further. Indeed, the boss of the Pro League will now prevent players, coaches and leaders of the amateur and provincial leagues who cross the Red Line of Officer in their clubs.
In other words, in addition to no longer enter a stadium, people who do not respect the rules could no longer work in their local club.
These suspensions could last up to a year to ban them from the world of football. Lorin Parys justified this decision. “More than one stadium in eight concerns people involved in football”he continues. “Thanks to this new approach, we clearly affirm that no one is above the rules. Everyone is responsible for the image of our sport.”
In addition to this, the Pro League wishes to give more resources to the clubs to be reimbursed for the financial consequences of the professional faults committed by the supporters concerned. For example, they will be able to charge administrative costs when introducing a stadium ban procedure, in addition to any fines.
