In China, accused of corruption, Admiral Miao Hua was dismissed

Admiral Miao Hua, at Pyongyang Airport, North Korea, October 14, 2019.

A senior Chinese military official was removed from his duties, a state media announced on Friday, June 27, several months after his suspension and the opening against him of an investigation for corruption.

Admiral Miao Hua has been accused since November 2024 of “Serious violations of the discipline”a formula generally used to designate facts of corruption – or more rarely disloyalty.

It is the latest high ranking to fall within the framework of the vast anti -corruption campaign carried out in recent years in the army under the presidency of Xi Jinping.

Miao Hua was officially removed from his post as a member of the powerful central military commission, the main body controlling the army, said the news agency China Nouvelle. The article does not provide any additional details on the current survey.

Asked about the subject at a regular press briefing, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs refused to comment.

Since coming to power a little over ten years ago, Xi Jinping has made the fight against anti -corruption a priority, at all levels of the State and the Communist Party. Supporters of this campaign say that it promotes healthy governance. Others believe that it also allows the president to rule out political rival potentials.
