In Geneva, the vacant housing rate is at its lowest. How to get out of the crisis?

The last time Geneva experienced such a low vacancy rate, Barack Obama ended his first mandate at the White House. Thirteen years later, the rate reached 0.34%, said the canton this week. At 0.25%, small apartments (3 rooms), such as studios and 2 rooms at 0.39%(Geneva has the kitchen as a room), underwent the most marked decline, even if they still do not equal the shortage of 4 rooms, measured at 0.21%. The 7 or more rooms experience a more favorable rate, 0.96%, but you have to be about Elon Musk to pay the rents to which they are generally offered. For the entire canton, 141 individual houses and 717 apartments are listed as vacant.

The shortage, which has lasted for almost twenty-five years, has the consequences that we know: continuous increase in rents, precariousness on the one hand population of the population-especially families in the middle class who can neither access subsidized housing nor pay the rents of the market-, enormous gap between old and new leases, search for goals, lack of mobility and low incentive to be renovated.
