A racing pilot saw the death closely on Monday evening, during a Super Dirtcar Series event presented at the Drummond Autodrome, in Drummondville.

In the 17th round of the race, the Canadian pilot Stewart Friesen slightly struck another racing car, before violently hitting the concrete wall.

His machine was propelled into the air, before making several barrels and set fire before even falling on the clay track.

At least another vehicle then struck the carcass of the racing car.

The spectacular images of the crash, published on social networks, had been seen more than a million times since their online on Monday evening.

Miraculously, the pilot who celebrated his 42th birthday just a few days ago, miraculously survived the accident.

He was transported to hospital in serious condition, but he was still aware.

The racing enthusiast underwent a fracture of the basin and the right leg, his wife reported on his Facebook page. Stewart Friesen will have to undergo several operations in the coming days.

“The scans revealed that his head, his neck and his spine had not been damaged, but he nevertheless really suffers a lot,” wrote Jessica Friesen about her hospitalized husband.

Stewart Friesen has since been transferred to another hospital and he is in a stable state.
