The MeauxSoone have been roasting from father to son since 1928. “My grandfather and his brother had flair by launching a brand of coffee while at the time he sold in bulk, without identity”, Analysis Edgar Meauxso, 30 years old, third generation at the controls. By founding Méo, in Lille (North), the brothers wish to make coffee a noble product.
“They therefore begin to make their own mixtures and create a product with high added value”, continues, admiring, the grandson. His father, Gérard Meauxso, took over in 1975. “He made this small SME a flourishing company, in particular by opening up to large distribution and widening the panel of suppliers and customers.”
In 2010, Cafés Méo merged with the Fichaux roaster, installed in the Madeleine (North), to rise more quickly. Capitals remain family (51% held by Fichaux and 49% per Méo). “We were located five kilometers from each other and we shared common values. The merger allowed us to have a more elaborate industrial tool ”, Complete Edgar Meauxso. It also facilitates the establishment of the company on the territory to become the first roasting of independent coffee in France.
The manager wishes to make Méo radiate internationally. “I hope to succeed as well as my ancestors. Thanks to the relationship of trust I have with my father, I can explore my own tracks ”, he said. He gave himself five years to start penetrating the European market, then continuing the expansion. For this running follower, transmission and entrepreneurship are part of family DNA. “If one of my two children, or both, want to take control, I will try to give them as soon as possible”he promises.
